OUR WORSHIP - PRAYER
Introduction:
A. A Vital Part Of Worship Is Prayer.
B. Jesus Assumes His Disciples Will Pray (Matthew 6: 5, 6, 7).

I. What Is Prayer?
A. Our communicating with God.
1. It is one way that we call upon Him (1 Peter 1: 17).
2. It is asking, seeking, knocking (Matthew 7: 7 - 11).
a. Asking petitions of God.
b. Seeking His wisdom to live our lives rightly.
c. Knocking to gain entrance into heaven.
B. Our coming into God's presence (Hebrews 10: 19).
C. Our privilege and duty (1 Timothy 1: 2).
D. An act of faith (James 1: 5 - 7).
II. Why Pray?
A. Because we believe God exists (Hebrews 11: 6).
B. Because we need God (Hebrews 4: 16).
C. Because others need our prayers
1. Those who spitefully use us (Matthew 5: 44).
2. Those who need to be saved (Romans 10: 1).
3. Those in authority (1 Timothy 2: 1, 2).
3. Those who spread the Gospel (Colossians 4: 3).
D. Because it "…avails much" (James 5: 16).
E. Because God hears and answers (1 John 5: 14, 15).
III. How Should We Pray?
A. Continuing steadfastly (Romans 12: 12).
B. Being watchful (Ephesians 6: 18).
C. Giving our anxieties to God (Philippians 4: 6).
D. Being vigilant with thanksgiving (Colossians 4: 2).
E. With faith [without doubting] (James 1: 6).
F. With seriousness (1 Peter 4: 7).
