IN REMEMBRANCE

Introduction:

A. Memorial Day Weekend.

1. We remember sacrifices made for our freedom.

2. We remember those who have lost their lives in battle.

3. We take the time to thank those who given their lives.

B. The Christian’s Memorial Each Weekend.

Body: Luke 22: 19 - 20

I. We Remember His Body.

A. A body prepared for sacrifice (Hebrews 10: 5 - 7)

B. A body holy and pleasing to God.

C. A body battered, beaten, tortured, and mutilated.

D. A body which brought truth, hope and forgiveness.

II. We Remember His Blood.

A. The life is in the blood (Leviticus 17: 10 - 14).

1. The life of our physical body is in our physical blood.
2. The life of our spiritual body is in our spiritual blood.

B. Blood which was pure and untainted.

C. Blood which all could receive for "transfusion."

D. Blood which was freely given.

1. Jesus did not offer a "shotgun sacrifice (forced at gunpoint)."
2. Jesus was not a robot programmed to do only one thing.
3. Jesus offered us the full extent of love by dying.
4. He brought us life, liberty and happiness (not just the pursuit or happiness.

Conclusion:

A. This Memorial Day Weekend.

1. Remember those who have lost their lives or loved ones for freedom.

2. Remember those who are currently risking their lives and the loss of loved ones.

3. Remember the life, liberty and happiness we have as a nation.

B. Each Lord’s Day.

1. Remember the One who gave His life for the whole world.

2. Remember the life, liberty and happiness He has brought to the world.
