GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD

Introduction:

A. We Are Richly Blessed.

1. As a nation - a land full of all good things, no war and little strife.

2. As Christians - prosperity and peace to worship.

3. As people - we lack nothing (family, friends, opportunity).

B. We Have Much To Be Thankful For.

Body: Psalm 100: 1 - 5

I. Come Before The Lord.

A. The Way To Come.

1. With a joyful shout - heralding good, joy at being able to be present (won a prize and "going down front").
2. Serve with gladness - in heart and appearance.
3. Come to Him singing - speaks what we oft cannot say.

B. The Reasons To Come.

1. He Is God - not a human, nor having human tendencies.
2. He is the Creator - if not for Him, we would not be.
3. We belong to Him - His people, His flock.

II. Our Presence Before Him.

A. What We Should Do.

1. Enter His gates with thanksgiving - worship, the house He has given us to live in, city, nation, etc.
2. Be thankful - for all the good and the bad which has not happened.
3. Bless His name - not use it in vain.

B. Why We Should Sing And Give Thanks.

1. He is good - no evil, "treats you right," etc.
2. He is merciful - vengeance is result of our continual mis-treatment of Him, mercy never ends to repenters.
3. He is truthful - He does not obscure the way, deceive, or hinder us from knowing.

B. Are We Being Thankful?

1. Singing to and praising Him all day and week long.

2. Giving thanks for all things (Ephesians 5: 20).
