DO YOU?

Introduction:

A. A Question We Often Ask.

B. It Often Seeks Information That Only We Would Have.

C. It Is Also Asked In A Seasonal Song.

Body: Ephesians 1: 17 - 21

I. Do You See What I See? (Hebrews 2: 9 - 11)

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You."

A. We see Jesus.

B. He is our Captain, Prince, Author (Hebrews 12: 2).

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

C. He suffered for our sanctification (1 Peter 3: 18).

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.

II. Do You Hear What I Hear?

A. We hear Jesus (Matthew 17: 1 - 5).

Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"

B. It is God's will that we hear Him (Hebrews 1:1, 2 NKJV).

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;
1. He is greater than family.
2. He is more reliable than religious leaders.
3. He is above all others (1 Timothy 2: 5).
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, (1 Timothy 2:5 NKJV)

C. To enter into the rest (Hebrews 3: 12 - 15).

Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."
1. Lack of hearing God leads to unbelief.
2. Lack of hearing God risks being deceived by sin.
3. Lack of hearing God opens our heart to hardness and evil.

III. Do You Know What I Know?

A. The hope of His calling (1 Peter 1: 3).

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

B. The riches of His inheritance (Romans 8: 32).

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

C. The greatness of His power (Romans 8: 11).

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Conclusion: Acts 22: 14

A. Do You See, Hear, And Know Jesus?

B. If You Do, What Are You Doing To Share It?

C. He Shares With Us, Why Should We Not Share With Others?
