DO YOU BELIEVE THE BIBLE(2)

Introduction: Hebrews 11: 6

A. We Believe That God Exists.

B. We Believe The Bible Is Our Source Of Knowledge About God.

C. We Must Believe What The Bible Says.

Body: 2 Corinthians 4: 1 - 6

I. Believe The Bible.

A. Why should we believe the Bible?

1. It has stood the test of time. Many have tried to scrutinize and destroy it.
2. It has been proven to be accurate: Historically, archaeologically, and scientifically.
3. There is an ample amount of evidence. The many early manuscripts, church writings, and it's effect.

B. How do we believe the Bible?

1. Do we believe it fully (meaning everything in it).
2. Do we believe it partially (believing that some of it is truth and some of it is myths and legends).

C. Why Is This Important? (Luke 1: 3, 4; John 21: 24)

1. If The Miracles Or Any Of The Stories Are Not True, The Bible Is Not Historically Accurate.
2. If Part Of The Bible Is Not Believable, There Is No Basis To Believe Any Of It.
3. Who Decides Which Parts Are God's Word And Which Are Not?

II. The Bible's Claims About Itself.

A. It is inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3: 16; 2 Samuel 23: 2; 2 Peter 1: 21)

B. It is the truth. (Psalm 119: 160; John 17: 17)

C. It is powerful. (Romans 1: 16; Hebrews 4: 12)

D. It is everything we need. (2 Peter 1: 3; 2 Timothy 3: 17)

III. The Bible's Claims About Jesus.

A. He was human. (John 1:14; Romans 8:3; Hebrews 2: 14)

B. He was the Son of God. (John 1: 1; 1 John 4: 15)

C. He did many miracles. (John 20: 30, 31; Acts 2: 22)

D. He was resurrected. (Matthew 28: 6; 1 Cor. 15: 16, 17)

Conclusion: 1 John 4: 14
