WHO IS JESUS?

Introduction:

A. What Is You Idea of Jesus?

1. An interesting figure from history.

2. A good teacher with many good ideas.

3. A special person who made an impact upon history.

B. We Must Know Jesus In Order To Follow Him.

Body:

I. The Son Of God [Mark 9: 2 - 8].

A. He was not just a man.

B. God proclaimed His heritage.

1. Being His "Son" was a claim of deity (John 10: 33 - 36).

2. Being His Son gave Him precedence (Hebrews 3: 5, 6 [His own house]).

II. The Christ Of God [Luke 9: 18 - 20].

A. The "Anointed One."

B. Kings were anointed as God's chosen leader for Israel.

C. High Priests and Priests were anointed to consecrate them.

III. The Lamb Of God [John 1: 29].

A. Sent as a sacrifice (Revelation 5: 6).

B. Takes away the sins of the world - like scapegoat on Day of Atonement.

C. Illustration = The ram provided to take Isaac's place.

IV. The Way To God [John 14: 6].

A. Jesus is the only way to God.

B. Jesus is the truth (the Word of God).

C. Jesus is the life.

1. Through His work we were created.

2. Through His calling our life is given back to us.

3. Through His sacrifice our eternal life is secured.

Conclusion:

A. "Do You Know My Jesus...?"

1. He is the Son of God!

2. He is the Christ of God!

3. He is the Lamb of God!

4. He is the Way to God!
