THE BLOOD OF JESUS

A. We View The Jewish Religion As Very Bloody.

1. Sacrifices daily - morning and evening.

2. Blood poured out beside altar.

B. God Commanded Them To Worship This Way!

1. Reminder of the ugliness and appalling nature of sin.

2. Reminder of the price for forgiveness.

C. How Important Is Blood?

Body: Leviticus 17: 10 - 14

I. Life Is In His Blood.

A. The life of flesh is in the blood.

1. It carries the needed nutrients throughout the body.
2. It carries the oxygen needed by the cells.

B. Atonement for our souls.

1. God has given - by His command.
2. Blood needed to cover, cancel, purge our soul of sin.

C. The Blood of Jesus Atones [Romans 3: 23 - 26].

II. Cleansing Is In His Blood.

A. It circulates throughout the body "picking up" impurities.

B. It carries those impurities away.

C. The Blood of Jesus cleanses

1. Hebrews 9: 11 - 14 = Jesus blood cleanses.
2. Hebrews 10: 11 - 14 = Jesus blood has perfected.

III. Acceptability Is In His Blood.

A. It brings us redemption and forgiveness [Ephesians 1: 7].

B. It brings us near to God [Ephesians 2: 11 - 14].

C. It brings reconciliation and peace [Colossians 1: 20].

Conclusion:

A. The Importance Of Blood.

1. It is vital for physical life.

2. It is just as important for our eternal life.

B. The Blood Of Jesus.

1. Provides us entrance into eternal life.

2. Cleanses us from sinfulness and imperfection.

3. Makes us acceptable to God.
