Introduction:

1. Got a little bit arrogant and made a stupid mistake?

2. Tried to be too controlling of someone or some situation?

3. Said something that was completely wrong?

B. We Need To Be Careful Of How We Treat God!

Body:

I. The Potter Illustration.

A. Takes special dirt and water to make clay.

(Takes water to make a Christian - hum?)

B. Mix and knead to right consistency.

C. Throws clay onto wheel and spins.

D. Pushes, pulls, cuts, shapes and molds.

E. Starts over, if necessary.

F. Hardens, decorates, bakes and puts into service.

II. Isaiah 64: 8

A. God Is Our Potter (Ephesians 2: 10)!

1. We are the work of His Hand.
2. He is molding and shaping us.
3. He has given us purpose and work.

B. God Is In Control (Jeremiah 18: 1 - 4)!

1. He determines our function.
2. He fashions us for our work.

C. God Is God (Isaiah 29: 13 - 16).

1. We are the clay, He is the Potter.
2. We have no right to question God's work.

III. When You Ask...?

A. What do you expect?

1. Do you expect God to answer your request the way you want?
2. Do you expect to get some kind of a yes answer?
3. Do you want His will to be accomplished?

B. Some Answers God Gives.

1. You do not understand (Job 38 - 41).
2. You are asking for the wrong reason (James 4: 5).
3. It is not according to God's will (1 John 5: 14).
4. You need to learn a lesson.
5. Yes.
