Body: Ephesians 4: 11 - 16

I. Importance of Proper Doctrine.

A. Matthew 16: 6 - 12 = like leaven it spreads and affects all.

B. 2 John 1: 9 - 11

1. Without it, we do not have God.
2. We are not to have fellowship with Christ-less doctrine.

II. Improper Doctrine.

A. Romans 16: 17 - 20

1. Causes division and offenses, not service of the Lord.
2. Catches those who are illiterate in Christian doctrine.

B. 2 Timothy 4: 2 - 4

1. It is not sound, logical, or well-founded.
2. It is the product of desires, lust, and feelings.

C. 1 Timothy 1: 3 – 11 = corrupt love lacking understanding.

1. Causes division and not godly edification.
3. Love is not from a pure heart, good conscience and sincere faith.
4. Is not based upon sound doctrine.

III. Ideal Doctrine.

A. John 7: 14 - 18 = results from a desire to do God's will.

B. 2 Timothy 3: 16, 17 = comes by studying God's Word.

C. Titus 2: 7, 8 = involves integrity, reverence, and not corrupt.

D. Ephesians 4: 11 - 16 = equips us with the truth in love.

Conclusion:

A. Are We Continuing Steadfastly in the Apostles' Doctrine?

1. Are we studying His Word?

2. Are we striving to please Him?

3. Do we possess godliness, integrity, reverence, and Christ-like love?

B. Without His Doctrine We Are "Without Him!"
