Body:

I. Suffering Is A Reminder.

A. This world is not our home (2 Corinthians 4: 16 - 18).

B. It helps us keep our perspective (2 Peter 3: 10 - 13).

1. Causes us to long for "something better."
2. It reminds us of who we are.

II. Suffering Gives Us Opportunity.

A. To be like Christ (1 Peter 4: 12, 13).

B. To show God's love.

1. Christ showed the full extent of God's love by suffering for us (1 John 4: 9, 10).
2. We show the full extent of our love for God by our willingness to suffer for Him.

C. To silence the enemies of God.

1. Job silenced Satan.
2. Jesus muzzled Satan.

III. Suffering Makes Us Better Christians.

A. It brings us to our knees in prayer!

B. It helps us appreciate our many blessings.

C. It restores our God-given gift of sympathy (2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4).

D. It compels us to depend upon God (2 Corinthians 1: 9 - 11).

E. It purifies and prepares us (1 Peter 1: 6, 7).

Conclusion:

A. Sometimes There Is No One Answer!

1. Society, parents, etc. all share responsibility.

2. Christ-likeness determines our response.
