I. History Of Issac.

A. Only child of an elderly couple (doted on?).

B. His father was wealthy and well respected.

C. At a young age learned obedience (near sacrifice).

1. Examples of Abraham obeying God.
2. Taught to obey.
3. Ultimate example of "sacrificial obedience."

II. Preceding Events.

A. Fools Abimelech concerning Rebekah.

1. Says she is his sister.
2. Goes on for a long time (v. 8).

B. God watches over them and keeps Abimilech from sinning.

C. They agree to dwell peaceably with one another.

D. Isaac unwilling to fight over wells.

III. Safety In Obedience.

A. The Lord blesses Isaac.

B. Abimilech can see how well Issac is blessed.

C. An oath of peace between them.

IV. Applied Today.

A. Obedience to God is always the best policy.

B. Tell the truth (no matter how embarrassing).

C. Why do you want to "fight about it?"

Conclusion:

A. What Is More Important?

1. Winning the fight or "fighting the good fight?"

2. Setting things right or keeping things right with God.?
