1. Did they misunderstand things?

2. Did they try to make literal things into figurative?

3. Were they perfect?

Body: Mark 9: 1 - 13

I. The Kingdom.

A. It was to come sometime soon.

B. It belonged to God.

C. It came with power.

II. The Transfiguration.

A. Only Peter, James and John.

B. High on a mountain.

C. His "pattern was changed," His clothes shined exceedingly white.

D. Moses and Elijah appeared.

E. Peter could not keep quiet.

F. God told who to listen to.

G. Told to keep quiet.

H. Did not know what He meant by "risen from the dead."

III. Elijah

A. They have just seen Elijah.

B. Why do the scribes say?

C. Was he about to come?

D. John the Baptist was treated the same as all other prophets.

Conclusion:

A. We Want To Be Different.

1. To believe the truth.

2. To be receptive to God’s messengers.

3. To do what is right.

B. How Much Are We The Same?

1. We batter the messengers.

2. We will not listen and "test the spirit."

3. We treat with contempt.
