2. Wish we could take child's place.

B. What would we do if a bonafide healer came to town?

Body: Luke 9: 37 - 45

I. A Boy Is Healed.

A. The cry of a father.

1. Come down from the mountain.
a. Have just seen Jesus transfigured.
b. Have heard the voice of God.
2. The multitude is waiting.
3. Father implores Jesus for his son.
a. Possessed by a demon.
b. It causes him to convulse, foam at the mouth, takes time and bruises him.
c. Disciples unable to cast out.

B. The Chastisement of Jesus.

1. A faithless and perverse generation.
a. The disciples - because they were unable?
b. The multitude - because they were there to see if Jesus could?
2. The demon puts on one last show.
3. Jesus power.
a. Rebukes the unclean spirit.
b. Heals the child.
c. Returns him to his father.

C. Amazement at the majesty of God.

II. Jesus Prophecies.

A. Listen Carefully!

1. Jesus speaks to his disciples.
2. Warns them that there is "trouble in paradise."

B. Unable to understand.

1. The meaning was hidden from them.
2. They did not perceive it.
3. They were afraid to ask.

Conclusion:

A. How Strong Is Our Faith?

1. Is it able to accomplish the impossible?

2. Are we standing around to see if God will do what He has promised?

B. Are We Listening With Open Ears And Hearts?

C. Are We Too Afraid To Ask?
