Introduction:

A. If Someone Claimed To Be A Prophet...

2. How would you "test the Spirits?"

B. Jesus Claimed To Be "The Messiah."

1. Who anointed Him?

2. How could He prove He really was the Messiah?

Body: Luke 7: 11 - 17

I. The City of Nain.

A. About 5 miles Southeast of Nazareth.

B. Seemingly, victim was well-known.

C. Jesus is being followed by a large group of Disciples.

II. Demonstration of Compassion.

A. Jesus sees the Widow.

1. Might have know her from earlier years.
2. She would not have been accompanied by a male (husband dead and only son dead).
3. He has compassion.

B. Compassion in Action.

1. When Jesus feels emotion, He is moved to act in a Godly way.
2. Jesus speaks to the woman first.
3. He touches and speaks to the son.
4. He presents the son back to the woman.

III. Immense Results.

A. Fear came upon all!

B. They glorified God...not man!

1. Jesus appeared to be a prophet like of old.
2. God has come to His oppressed people.

C. They told everyone they could.
