Introduction:

A. Failing Or Developing Strength?

1. Have you ever felt like you could not make it?

2. Have you ever experienced having energy you did not know you had?

Body: Luke 6: 12 - 19

I. Prayer (vs. 12 - 16).

A. Jesus goes to a high place (mountain).

1. Often Jesus sought to "get close to God."
2. His purpose is to pray.
3. He prays all night (all that He does!)

B. Importance of prayer.

1. Worth seeking solitude.
2. Worth continuing in for several hours.
3. Specifically to God (not to others. for others, etc.).

C. A Major Life Change.

1. He spent 40 days in wilderness fasting (and praying?).
2. About to name Apostles.
a. Seeks God's presence for decision.
b. Difficult to choose "the devil?"
3. Called the disciples to come.
4. Four Lists - Peter first, Judas last or left out (Acts 1).

II. Power (vs. 17 - 19).

A. To heal.

1. Moves to a level place.
2. His disciples are still with Him (all of them).
3. A large crowd comes out.
a. To hear Jesus.
b. To be healed of diseases.
4. All were healed or relieved of evil spirits.
a. There was no picking and choosing of healable.
b. There was no lack of time or ability.

B. A Great Power.

1. The people wanted to touch Him.
2. Just touching Him was enough to be healed.
3. Filled with the Holy Spirit! (4: 1)

Conclusion:

A. "Greater is He..." (1 John 4: 4).

B. Have You Overcome The World (this world)?
