Body: Luke 23: 50 - 56

I. Joseph of Arimathea.

A. A member of the council.

1. He was a good and just man
2. He had not consented.
a. To the decision or the deed.
b. Was likely not invited to the meeting (Mark 14: 64).

B. He was from Arimathea.

1. A town of the Jews.
2. Likely was Ramah also known as Samuel's birthplace.
3. He was also likely rich (Isaiah 53: 9).

C. He was waiting for the Kingdom of God.

II. A New Tomb.

A. Went to Pilate.

1. Requested the body of Jesus.
a. He was willing to "contaminate" himself before the Sabbath (Numbers 19: 11 - 22).
b. His actions kept them from defiling the land further (Deuteronomy 21: 22, 23).
2. Took the body down.
3. Wrapped it in cloths.
a. Used strips of Linen
b. Used about 100 pounds of spices (John 19: 40).

B. The Day of Preparation.

1. Day before the Sabbath Day.
2. Prepared all food for next day.
3. Took care of all work that was to be done.

III. The Women From Galilee.

A. They observed where He was buried.

B. Prepared special spices and perfumes.

C. Obeyed the law by resting.

Conclusion:

A. One Risked Being Identified As A Follower.

B. Are We As Willing To Be Marked?
