Introduction:

A. How Many Of You Look Forward To Something Terrible?

1. An operation which will cause you to be in much pain.

2. Eating something that will make you very sick.

3. Going somewhere where you will be abused and mistreated.

B. Would You Look Forward to Something Good Just Before It?

Body: Luke 22: 7 - 23

I. Preparation For The Passover.

A. Where to prepare.

1. It will be in Jerusalem.
2. Follow a man with a water pitcher (women were to be the "drawers of water") [also see Joshua 9].

B. A ready room.

1. A large, furnished guestroom (upper room).
2. Custom was to provide an area for visitors to the city.

C. The meal is prepared (see Exodus 12: 3 - 11).

1. The lamb is slain and roasted.
2. Unleavened bread is baked.
3. It is eaten with bitter herbs (whether is meant bitter seasoning or "salad" is unclear).

II. The Passover Feast.

A. He has fervently desired to eat this Passover.

B. The Bread - His Body.

1. Given for you.
2. Do this in remembrance of Him.

C. The Cup - The New Covenant in His Blood.

III. An Inside Job.

A. The betrayer with them.

B. A fulfillment of prophecy.

C. Who will it be?

Conclusion:

A. Consider What Jesus Has Endured For Our Sake?

B. Does He Not Have The Right To Ask Us To Sacrifice All For Him?

C. Our Suffering Is So Small Compared To What He Endured.
