I. A Silent Betrayal.

A. The multitude arrives.

B. Judas approaches Jesus.

C. A kiss was the sign.

1. The symbol of friendship used for betrayal.
2. A symbol of caring used heartlessly.

D. A disquieting question.

1. An agreement had been made (22: 6).
2. Why was a kiss chosen?
3. A betrayal shrouded in silence.

II. Ready For Battle.

A. The disciples had two swords (22: 38)

B. Jesus had "warned them" to be prepared (22: 36).

C. Request for permission to attack.

D. Impulsive Peter.

1. The servant's name was Malchus (John 18: 10).
2. Peter was the one who drew the sword (John 18: 10).
3. Peter was being true to his word (22: 35).

1. As a cover for their actions.

1. He has been cornered at night by people with evil intentions.

2. He has had a friend betray Him.

3. He has been misunderstood, used, and abused.
