B. Can Actually Lead To Greater Understanding.

1. Point does not get lost in the historical event.

2. Cannot focus on event and miss the teaching.

Body: Luke 13: 1 - 9

I. Sinful Retribution?

A. Slaughtered Galileans.

1. Crowd relates story of some who were killed.
2. Complaining(?) that their sacrifices were spoiled.
3. Their blood not guilty.
4. Suffering not always due to my sin.

B. Tower Victims.

1. Tower of Siloam fell killing eight(8).
2. Tragedy not due to their sin.

C. Repent or perish as well.

II. Parable Of Barren Fig Tree.

A. The Fig Tree

1. Fruitless.
a. In proper location.
b. Receiving proper nutrition
2. Saved From Judgment.
a. Given opportunity to bear.
b. Using resources, but not producing.
3. Given Second Chance.

B. The "Christian Tree."

1. Maybe in proper location, receiving proper nutrition, etc.
2. If not bearing fruit, then worthless.

Conclusion:

A. How Do We View Others?

1. They got themselves into trouble.

2. How terrible that person is.

3. They are getting what they deserve.

B. If We Are Not Bearing Fruit, We Will Perish.
