THE PERFECT CAPTAIN

Introduction:

A. Who Would You Rather Have As Your Advocate?

1. Someone who knew the law and was able to eloquently deliver it's meaning.

2. Someone who knew the law and understand your situation due to having experienced it.

B. Jesus Is Our Perfect Advocate!

Body: Hebrews 2: 10 - 18

I. Fitting Perfection.

A. All things are created.

1. They were created for God.
2. They were created by God.

B. He desired to bring many sons to glory.

C. Our "Captain" was made perfect through suffering.

1. He sanctifies us.
2. We receive sanctification from Him.
3. We are one (a wedding analogy).
4. He is not ashamed (proud!?) to have us as brethren.

II. Shared Understanding.

A. We are flesh and blood.

B. He became flesh and blood.

1. By doing so He shared our experience.
2. By doing so He destroyed Satan.
3. He released us from our fear of death.

III. Made Like His Brethren.

A. Divine Aid.

1. The angels have not received aid from God.
2. Sons of faith have been given aid.

B. Jesus became like us.

1. So that He might be merciful.
2. So that He might be a faithful High Priest.
3. So that He might be our propitiation (atoning sacrifice).

C. He has suffered.

1. He is acquainted with temptation.
2. He helps those of us who are tempted.

Conclusion:

A. Jesus Knows And Understands.

B. Jesus Is On Your Side!
