Introduction:

A. Authority.

1. Many no longer respect authority figures.

2. Some respect has been lost because of abused authority.

3. Most has been lost due to lack of teaching and living submissively.

B. How Do We Handle Authority In The Church?

Body: Hebrews 13: 7, 8, 17 - 19

I. Those Who Rule.

A. Remember them.

1. Keep them in memory.

2. Be mindful of them.

B. They have spoken the word.

1. They bring glad tidings of good things (Romans 10: 15).

2. They have borne God’s message.

C. Follow their faith.

1. They are men of faith.

2. They are men worthy of following.

3. Keep in mind the results of such faith.

II. Jesus Christ.

A. The same yesterday.

B. The same today.

C. The same forever.

III. Those Who Rule.

A. Obey them.

1. Hear their instruction and commands.

2. Heed their instruction and commands.

B. Be submissive.

1. Surrender yourself to them.

2. Yield to their authority.

3. Make their responsibility easier.

a. We choose to grieve or make joyful.

b. Grief is not profitable for us.

IV. Pray.

A. Have a good conscience.

B. Desire to live honorably.

Conclusion:

A. God Has Commanded.

B. We Choose To Obey Or Disobey.
