I. Faith Explained.

A. Greek = assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

B. Substance - the support or essence of what we hope for.

C. Evidence - the proof or conviction about the unseen.

II. Faith’s Reward.

A. Patriarchs remembered.

1. Why was the Old Testament written?
a. To reveal God to us.
b. To provide examples of righteousness and unrighteousness.
2. Why are there recorded acts of faith or faithlessness?
a. To know what is pleasing to God.
b. To know what is not pleasing to God.

B. Obtained a good testimony.

1. It is truthful and accurate.
2. The records are examples and encouragement.
a. Examples of good and of evil.
b. Encouragement to endure and persevere.

III. Faith’s Understanding.

A. Worlds framed by Word.

1. God is the One Who created, not time, chance, etc.
2. Everything was spoken into existence.
3. Christ was at the center of creation (John 1: 3, Col. 1: 16).

B. Seen was made from unseen.

1. God made everything we see.
2. The unseen is where the seen came from.

Conclusion:

A. Belief Occurs When You Are Convinced Of A Truth.

B. Faith Is When Your Belief Transcends What Is Seen.
