CHALLENGE TO BE COMMITTED

Introduction:

A. Example of Mountain Climbing

1. Decision to make when faced with a sheer wall.

a. Give up and go back down.
b. Risk a move called "The Pendulum."

2. The Pendulum is:

a. Attach a loop as far up on the wall as possible.
b. Pull a rope through the loop.
c. Swing yourself to the other side.
d. After done, remove the rope from the loop and go on = total commitment.

B. How Can Christians Have The Resolve To Risk "The Pendulum?"

Body: Hebrews 10: 19 - 25

I. Draw Near To God

A. Who moved?

1. Wife says to husband in car, "Why don't we ever sit together anymore?" Husband replies, "I didn't move!"
2. Is God the One who moved or did we?

B. If I want to be like someone, then I get as close to as possible.

C. How Can We Draw Near?

1. By the blood of Jesus.
2. With a true heart.
3. In full assurance of faith.

II. Hold On To Your Hope.

A. "Don't Look Down."

1. We must not look back (Philippians 3: 12).
2. Press on, look to that which Christ has attained for you!

B. Don't Waver - God is faithful.

III. Encourage One Another.

A. No Room For "Trash Talk."

1. Stir up one another to love.
2. Stir up one another to good works.
3. Exhort one another.

B. Remember - "The Day" is coming.

Conclusion:

A. Are We Going To Give Up?

1. By standing still?

2. By turning back?

B. Are We Going To Trust God And Keep Pressing Forward?
