THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST

Body: 2 John 1: 7 - 13
I. Many Deceivers.
A. Those who try to deceive.
1. Knowingly teach falsehood.
2. Have deceived themselves and are teaching the deceived beliefs
to others.
B. Those who are anti-Christ.
1. Anti means over against, contrary to, or substitution.
2. Christ = the Messiah, the Savior from God sent to save His
people.
3. Do not accept the truth that Christ was God Incarnate sent to
save the world.
II. The Doctrine.
A. Need For Proper Doctrine.
1. Do not have proper doctrine concerning Christ = do not have
God.
2. Have proper doctrine concerning Christ = having both Jesus and
God.
B. The Doctrine of Christ.
1. Jesus came to this earth to seek for us and to save us.
a. He was fully man in nature.
b. He was fully God in nature.
2. Jesus died and was raised the third day.
3. He lives in heaven as our Savior and Mediator.
III. Friendship With Falsehood.
A. Christian Conundrum.
1. How do I not accept false teachers?
2. Yet, how do I show hospitality and generosity?
B. Having them in your house.
1. The early church met from house to house.
2. Do not allow them as a fellow teacher/preacher in your
assemblies.
C. Do not greet them.
1. The greeting was a means of bestowing God’s blessings.
2. Do not bless them or treat them as being "in fellowship."
Conclusion:
A. We Must Be Careful.
B. We Must Know the Scriptures Ourselves.
