THE WORD IS GROW

If I were to tell you that I knew of a doctor who had formulated a health plan which could guarantee you would live forever would you be interested? If I told you it would also cure the normal aches and pains associated with daily living, would you be listening more carefully? If I could show you proof that it really did work, how important would it be to you to get the information?

"But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 1: 5 - 11).

Peter gives us the recipe for a spiritual health plan which will make our future sure and provide an entrance into eternal life. Now that we know what we need, we have to determine how to obtain these things and increase in them. It is just as important to devise a method to obtain the goal, as it is to have the goal in the first place. One very important beginning point is to have the right focus. One lesson which has been learned from treating various addictions, is the need for the addict to come to grips with the fact that they have a problem. This is also an important step to increasing these characteristics in our lives. We must realize our need to do better and that we must continue to increase our measure of all of these characteristics. Having the right focus means taking a goal and building it into a life changing commitment.
